This review is for the K70 Lux rgb with cherry MX reds.Corsair makes the best gaming keyboards on the market in my opinion. The K70 Lux series is one of their high end models, the K95 platinum being the flagship model. I'm coming from a K70 with red LED and cherry MX reds (the tramp stamp version, purchased in 2015). I LOVE that keyboard, it's still like new to this day. Fantastic build quality, and with periodic cleaning it still looks outstanding. After 2 years though I thought it was time to upgrade to an RGB keyboard. I don't really care about all the crazy lighting effects and rainbow spirals, but I did want the option to choose any color I want and to change it up from time to time. The lux is basically the revision to the standard K70, with an updated lighting controller and new keycaps with a wider, larger font. I was hesitant about buying this because of the font actually, it didn't look very nice in pictures. I have to say though once I got the lux and saw how much more light the new font lets though, I really appreciated it. I actually think the font looks quite good in person. It's hard to explain, but it looks very bold, but also clean. I've seen it described as "gamer bro" font, but I disagree. I think it looks quite elegant.I was also hesitant because my standard K70 with red LED does not require the CUE software to run, it's plug and play. I'm not a big fan of the CUE software, I found it a nuisance with the m65 pro RGB mouse. When you first plug in the lux rgb, without the software running it defaults to a red color with white on the wasd and arrow keys. Once CUE is installed, it defaults to spiral rainbow. The led colors are super impressive, but that sort of thing is a little much for me.The software has a few built in lighting profiles, and also a ton of community share profiles. The one you see in my pictures is a static rainbow profile someone created. I guess they used to have this profile, but got rid of it in recent CUE versions. I think it looks great, so I've been sticking with it. The software allows you to save static lighting to the device, so I also saved a blue static lighting profile to it. When my computer boots or wakes from sleep, they keyboard is now blue instead of red. Looks great. The new keycaps are really good. They feel a bit more premium than the standard K70 caps, and for some reason they actuate much smoother. I think they are great overall. I also swapped in the textured fps caps as I did on my previous k70, I love the texture and the curves that keep your fingers in place. The brushed aluminum also looks slightly higher end than the standard K70. Overall just a gorgeous keyboard.I tried the mx speed switches in a retail store, and I wasnt a big fan. They felt slightly different, and are much louder than the reds for some reason. Keep that in mind when deciding what switch to get.Edit: Had to request a replacement today. The keyboard started randomly dropping connection, all of the lights would turn off and back on. Also the D key seems to have some sort of issue, it feels like there is a click when actuated and it feels slightly wobbly, and as a result fails to register sometimes. I'm chalking this up to getting unlucky, I still think this is a 5 star product!

Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2017
This is a great gaming keyboard, and isn't too bad to type on either. This is my first mechanical keyboard, and I can safely say that this is now a trend in my life, as I won't be able to go back to rubber dome switches (I'm actually now looking at a 40% or 60% board to use at shcool, because I hate those dell keyboards).

The board is assembled very well, feels great, overall is a nice piece of gear. The volume roller has become invaluable to me as well, much better than any buttons. I would argue that this is one of the key features of this board, based on my use.

The lighting software isn't very daunting if you're a logical thinker, it just appears intimidating with a lot of options and selections to be made. Speaking of lighting, it's not extremely bright (like razer boards), but I can't imagine anywhere you would want your board extremely bright. It's the perfect level for indoor use at a desk underneath 4 bright LED bulbs where I do my work and gaming at home when I'm not in classes on campus.

The switches and guides are very smooth, my only complaint being the shift keys. While they both feel the same, they have a slightly higher resistance than all of the other keys, while still being linear. You get to notice this more substantially after typing a lot on it, though it's not hindering in any fashion, just a minor annoyance. The gaming 'FPS' and 'MOBA' cluster that come with the board don't work too well for me though, specifically because the keycaps are slanted inwards towards a point (the WASD cluster coming to a bowl shape around the gap between W and S). This makes for a very 'off' feel while gaming in all honesty compared to normal (stock) keycaps. I can't recommend actually using them as they just strike me as a novelty thing you would put on for pictures, but who's that vein these days... *cough*me*cough*

Very heavy, nice construction, great cable, USB pass through port carries enough power to operate things like controllers, thumb drives, etc. You won't be charging anything, but it works as a basic cable, allowing you to use much shorter cables for peripheral devices.

Overall, definitely buy this board. I haven't tried the other switches, and likely won't, as I decided early on I like the non-clicky type switches (MX Reds still clack, and are plenty loud with authoritative sounds on each bottom out, trust me), but I imagine the experience will likely be the same.

PS: Protip for typing on this board, and games in general. Use the keycap puller, and remove the space bar. Rotate it clockwise 180 degrees, and put it back on (upside down, basically). This gets the sharp edge off of your thumb, and it makes typing SO much better. The texture is angled properly then, and you get the best of everything. Only downside is the RGB lighting doesn't show on the space bar anymore, because the passthrough area isn't aligned with the LED under the RGB Cherry switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars K70 LUX RGB
Reviewed in Mexico on March 9, 2017

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best thing about this keyboard
Reviewed in Canada on November 11, 2016
This is the second mechanical keyboard I've bought. This keyboard is replacing my Razer chroma and I'm upset that I didn't buy this sooner.

Probably the best thing about this keyboard, in comparison to the Razer, is how silent it is well still retaining that clicky kind of feeling under your finger. The keys take a lot of getting used to, and since cherry keys have a tenancy to get pressed with a feather landing on them, I find myself wandering sideways in some games just from the weight of my fingers.

I do like how Corsair includes textured keycaps for WASD. My first few games saw me reloading instead of walking since I had no real point of reference, and the textured key caps really helped with that. They also include several nearby keys, I think QERF and a few others. They stand out a little, but it doesn't bother me that much. The included tool to remove the caps makes it super easy if you want it to look nice when not in use.

Now, the RGB. Lots of people complaining about software to design what you want. I have no real problems with it. I have it set to match my red/white color scheme and also have it set up to change my key colors temporarily when pressed. Typing something like this leaves my keyboard a rainbow mess for a couple seconds until the effects are over. The software itself is a little clunky feeling, but it reminded me of the Razer Synapse software for their RGB controls. Really though, its more of a "set and forget" deal for most people though. I find that this keyboard is actually a little dimmer compared to my old Razer, however the light is a lot less.... Aggressive? Its not a bright glare that you see in the bottom of your vision and the light just feels softer overall.

In terms of other odds and ends, I love the USB pass through. Easily my favorite thing. I have a wired set of Corsair void and the cord isn't quite long enough for me to plug it into my tower. With the USB pass through being right at the keyboard however, I can plug it in there and have at it without having to rearrange my entire desk or buy an extension cord. Also included is a button to change the brightness or totally shut off the RGB effects, which is very nice if you want to leave your computer on overnight and not have the glare from the keyboard keeping you awake. There's also a switch to shut off the windows keys, which, IMO, any keyboard with "gaming" in the title should include that. The volume wheel is nice, might have been better as more of a notch-type switch so you don't accidentally go 100%, but I doubt that will be a problem.

Overall, its a nice keyboard, and you can tell the quality is there. If you plan on buying it, I would recommend doing your research on the difference between Cherry Red and Cherry Brown, or you might be disappointed. If you want a good mechanical keyboard for playing games or just typing in general, I highly recommend this board.
